14.1.22. Check of a heater of back glass

GENERAL INFORMATION

The heater of back glass represents a set of the horizontal conductors which are raised dust on the internal surface of back glass.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. For detection of a rupture of the conductor of a heater of back glass include ignition and include a heater of back glass.
2. Connect one probe of the voltmeter to the mass of the car, and wrap up the second probe a foil and move a foil on the heater conductor.
3. Connect the voltmeter probe in the center of each conductor of a heater of back glass. If the voltmeter shows voltage about 5 V, so the conductor of a heater is serviceable. If the voltmeter shows voltage of 0 V or 12 V, means there is a rupture of the conductor of a heater.
4. For detection of the place of a rupture of the conductor of a heater connect one probe of the voltmeter to the positive plug of a heater, and move the second probe on the heater conductor from the negative plug of a heater. The point in which tension shown by the voltmeter will reduce from several volts to zero and is the place of a rupture of the conductor of a heater.
5. It is possible to restore the broken-off conductor of a heater of back glass with use of conducting paste.
6. Before repair switch off heating of back glass and give time for glass cooling.
7. Being careful, smooth out the conductor of a heater and wash out it alcohol.
8. Use an adhesive tape for a mark of the repaired site.
9. Apply electrowire paste approximately on 20 mm since each end of the damaged conductor.
10. After drying of electroconductive paste within 24 hours it is possible to use a heater of back glass.
