The torque from the transmission or the main transfer is transferred to wheels through two or four steel power shafts. The external ends of power shafts are inserted into naves of a wheel and fixed by nuts.

On the internal ends of power shafts hinges of equal angular speeds are installed (CV JOINTS) which are mobile both in angular, and in the axial direction. Internal hinges are used two types: trekhplechiya with rollers or ball with a separator. In case of damage of a cover hinges can be sorted and washed out, but if any details are damaged, hinges have to be replaced as a unit.

Covers have to be checked for damages and leak of lubricant periodically. The torn protective covers of CV JOINTS have to be replaced immediately, otherwise hinges can be damaged. Replacement of a cover includes removal of a power shaft.

The most frequent signs of wear or damage of CV JOINTS is, besides lubricant leak, the clicking noise at turns or during acceleration of the movement of the car and vibration at the movement at a high speed.
