GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

During the work of brake shoes brake dust which contains asbestos, unhealthy therefore when cleaning brake shoes do not use compressed air is formed and do not inhale dust.

Examine brakes through the recommended intervals and at each removal of wheels.

The symptoms indicating potential malfunctions of brakes: the car deviates aside when braking, noise when braking, the increased brake pedal course, a pulsation of effort to pedals, leak of brake fluid, especially on the side surface of the tire.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift the corresponding part of the car and record on supports. Remove a wheel.
Disk brakes
2. In disk brakes two brake shoes – external and internal are applied. Blocks are visible through viewing openings in supports (are specified by shooters). Check thickness of brake shoes and, if necessary, replace them.
3. If it is visually difficult to determine thickness of brake shoes, remove a support and take brake shoes for further survey. Measure thickness of brake shoes. At the same time, if thickness of a frictional layer is less than admissible, replace a brake shoe.
4. Measure thickness of brake disks by means of a micrometer. If thickness of a brake disk is less than admissible, replace a brake disk. Replacement of a brake disk is made also in the presence of cracks, zones of an overheat and other damages.
5. Before installation of wheels check a state and freedom of movement of brake hoses (are specified by shooters). At the same time there has to be no contact with any sharp sides.
Drum brakes
6. For survey of brake shoes remove back brake drums.
7. Check a condition of a frictional layer of a brake shoe. If the surface of a frictional layer is greasy, replace a brake shoe.
8. Examine a condition of the returnable and holding springs.
9. Otvorachivany protective cover of the working brake cylinder. Examine the working brake cylinder and a condition of protective covers. In the presence of leak of brake fluid replace the brake cylinder.
10. Examine a condition of the brake drum.
11. Install brake drums.
12. Establish wheels and lower the car.
