6.2.13. Replacement of the sensor of oxygen

GENERAL INFORMATION

Arrangement of the top sensor of oxygen

The sensor of oxygen is specified by an arrow.

Prevention

As the sensor is installed in a final collector or in an exhaust pipe which contracts in a cold state, can be quite complex business to remove the sensor at the cold engine. To reduce risk of damage of the sensor, start the engine for 1–2 minutes and switch off it. At removal of the sensor of oxygen be careful not to burn about hot exhaust pipes.

On models from 1990 to 1994 one sensor of oxygen located in front of the catalyst is installed. On models since 1995 two sensors of oxygen are installed: one – in front of the catalyst, the second – behind the catalyst.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a weight wire from the accumulator.
2. Lift the car and record on supports.
3. Remove heat-resistant screens which limit access to the sensor of oxygen and disconnect the electric socket from the sensor.
4. Unscrew the oxygen sensor from an exhaust pipe.
5. Apply the means interfering burning of the sensor on a sensor carving, and screw in the sensor in an exhaust pipe.
6. Connect the electric socket to the sensor.
7. Lower the car.
