7. Systems of start, ignition

7.1. Introduction

GENERAL INFORMATION

Arrangement of components of system of ignition, start and charging in a motor compartment of the car

1 – accumulator
2 – generator
3 – ignition coil

4 – high-voltage wires
5 – ignition block
6 – wires for connection of the accumulator

The electric equipment of the engine includes systems of ignition, charging and start. As these systems belong to the engine, they are considered separately from body electric equipment.

During the work with electric systems always observe the following precautions:

  – be extremely accurate at service of electric systems of the engine: they are easily damaged if are checked incorrectly;
  – never leave ignition included for long time (no more than 10 minutes at the idle engine);
  – do not disconnect a wire of the rechargeable battery in operating time of the engine;
  – observe polarity of connection of wires of the accumulator from other car during start of the engine;
  – always first of all disconnect the negative plug from the accumulator and in the last turn connect it to the accumulator.
