3.16.21. Check of working gaps of radical bearings of a bent shaft

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Clear a back part of inserts and the place of their installation in blocks of cylinders.
2. For check of a working gap of the radical bearing use the Plastigage method. In this case the round plastic core which contracts between an insert and a neck of a bent shaft is used. After division of sections of blocks of cylinders the deformed plastic core is measured by a special template which is available complete with Plastigage.
3. Procedure of use Plastigage following. Establish without lubricant inserts of radical bearings in section of the block of cylinders. Necks of a bent shaft and inserts have to be absolutely pure and dry.
4. Install a bent shaft in the right block of cylinders. Cut off several pieces of a plastic core and establish on each neck of a bent shaft. Install the left block of cylinders and connect blocks of cylinders bolts, having tightened them the required moment.
5. In the course of measurement of a gap by Plastigage method do not rotate a bent shaft of the engine.
6. Unscrew bolts of fastening of halves of blocks of cylinders and divide them.
7. Apply the large-scale ruler printed on packing to the deformed plastic core. Comparing width of the deformed plastic core to control width on a large-scale ruler, determine gap size.
8. In conclusion carefully clear Plastigage-material traces from inserts and a bent shaft.
9. Remove a bent shaft from the block of cylinders.
10. Apply a thin film of engine oil on working surfaces of inserts of radical bearings.
11. Install a bent shaft in the left block of cylinders.
12. Connect and fix by bolts two sections of the block of cylinders.
